Top features, changes and improvements on XOS 16
XOS 16 not only revamps key areas, such as the lockscreen and notification panel, but also introduces several visual changes inside, along with adding new features:
Glow Space design: The design fundamentals of XOS 16 revolve around “Glow Design”, a new interface inspired by light and space that brings a sense of depth to various elements across the UI.
Revamped notification panel: The notification panel not only heavily inherits Glow Design, but also sees a major revamp where the toggles and buttons are rounder, display light and transparency effects, and the entire blur in the background has been altered. Changes in first-party apps: Most of the first-party apps have undergone a minor visual revamp. For starters, the Settings app now displays larger menu icons, while the Search bar has been repositioned towards the bottom for easy reachability. Similarly, all the apps now sport floating bottom bars instead of a fixed bottom tab.
Lockscreen customisation: The lockscreen has finally received some love on XOS 16. Just like ColorOS 16 and OriginOS 16, Infinix has gone ahead and offered a slew of large clock styles for the lockscreen that embody blur and glass effects. That said, lockscreen widgets are nowhere to be seen for now.
Homescreen customisation: For the first time, an Android skin has introduced wallpaper depth effects on the homescreen, where the wallpaper is partially layered over homescreen icons. Apart from that, an AI Theme Generator is also in place to create themes based on a wallpaper’s visuals.
Changes to Dynamic Bar: The way the Dynamic Bar works on XOS 16 has been slightly altered. When running two tasks in the Dynamic Bar, they’re now stacked on top of each other instead of displayed side by side. This change also introduces smoother animations when switching between tasks. 1 of 8 Settings app About Phone page Clock app Phone app Gallery app Notes app
AI MindHub and SnapMemo: XOS 16 brings a brand-new feature called SnapMemo to Infinix phones, with a dedicated “One-Tap” button on the side. When assigning the long-press action to SnapMemo, the system analyses the on-screen content and saves it into a portal called MindHub. people can visit this portal later to view the key information from the screenshots in a curated manner.
Phone Master app: The ‘Phone Master is an all-in-one hub to remove cache and unwanted files, change privacy and security settings, boost memory, and more. All the phones launched with XOS 16, such as Note Edge and Note 60 Pro, carry Phone Master.
Is it beneficial to upgrade to XOS 16?
Taking into account all the new features, visual changes, and customisation improvements, the XOS 16 update ensures people get to enjoy a meaningful experience. As noted in our Infinix Note 60 review, the OS feels intuitive to use, which is backed by deeper customisation options and tons of AI-driven productivity features. Even the design inspiration from other software skins is evident, XOS 16 manages to offer a smooth and user-friendly experience overall. Speaking of which, Infinix is clearly following an industry-wide trend of implementing glass and light visuals, making people feel right at home when coming from other skins or mobile software. While this results in a fresh experience, people seeking originality may not find XOS 16 to be preferable to their liking. Also Read

What is the latest XOS version?
Currently, the latest XOS version available is XOS 16. It brings a slew of changes and improvements, including a new Glow Space design interface, heavy lockscreen and homescreen customisation options, smoother and refined animations, and a host of productivity features.
Why haven’t I received the XOS 16 update yet?
Generally, major OS rollouts such as XOS 16 are gradual and region/model-specific. The rollout depends on several factors before it reaches your device, including releasing the OTA in phases, starting with specific regions, server-side staging, and carrier authorisation (if applicable). If your model is slated to get the update and still hasn’t bagged it, wait a few weeks or try checking manually.
Should I factory reset after updating to XOS 16?
While not necessary, a factory reset after a major OS update often fixes bugs, improves performance, and resolves battery drain issues more quickly. If you’ve been regularly encountering stability issues after updating to XOS 16, feel free to factory reset your device. That said, make sure to back up all your crucial data to the cloud or locally before proceeding with the reset.
Can I roll back to XOS 15 from XOS 16?
While you could downgrade to XOS 14 from XOS 15 using unofficial methods, Infinix hasn’t revealed any procedure to downgrade to XOS 15. Even if a method is made available later, demoting your phone to an older XOS version will result in complete data loss, along with the uncertainty of bricking your device if the steps aren’t followed properly.
