While the TVs that are landing soon haven’t been explicitly mentioned, it’s safe to assume that Xiaomi is bringing some of the few models that were launched under its S Mini LED Series lineup in China and the EU recently.
While globally, Xiaomi has introduced the S Mini LED Series in the EU in 55-inch, 75-inch, and 98-inch screen sizes, China gets additional 65-inch and 85-inch options. Irrespective of the model you opt for, every TV packs 4K UHD resolution (3,840 × 2,160 and runs Google TV, enabling people to enjoy all kinds of apps available on the Play Store, while also providing access to smart assistants and screen sharing through Google Assistant, Google Cast and Apple AirPlay. Moving on to the display highlights, all TV sizes on offer come with a peak brightness of around 1,200 nits, 94 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, and also support for HDR formats such as HDR10+ and HLG. Then there’s the Mini LED technology, in which the display panel consists of thousands of smaller LEDs to control light more precisely. This not only results in excellent contrast tones but also higher brightness levels through individual LEDs.
The 85-inch and 98-inch TV variants feature a native 144Hz refresh rate for smoother gameplay and frames in movies and sports content, while the 55-inch, 65-inch, and 75-inch models get 60Hz refresh rates with HDR support. Apart from that, all models feature dual 15W built-in speakers, connectivity options like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and carry port support for HDMI and USB input.
How does Xiaomi’s S Mini LED TV lineup differ from the QLED series?
Currently, Xiaomi’s QD LED TV series is The company’s highest-end offering in the country, capped at Rs 69,999 for the 75-inch QLED TV X Pro Series Edition model. Considering the S Mini LED TV lineup is tapping into the premium market, it could start well over Rs 70,000.
For that price, the Mini LED technology could offer superior contrast, deeper blacks, brighter HDR, and better overall picture quality for movies, gaming, or mixed lighting conditions, while the QLED TVs are beneficial for those who’re on a tighter affordable and want a TV that just works by offering excellent colours and decent brightness, with compromises in contrast and black levels when compared to Mini LED.
