If you missed the launch, vivo X500 Pro Max is tipped to feature a 6.9-inch 2K display, up from the 1.5K panels on the X300 series.

The leaks around the Vivo X500 series have been arriving steadily over the past few days, and the latest one addresses something shoppers care about quite a bit. Tipster Smart Pikachu says (via) the X500 Pro Max is currently being tested with a 2K resolution display, a step up from the 1.5K panels that featured on last year’s X300 and X300 Pro.

Combined with an earlier tip pointing to a 6.9-inch screen size, the Pro Max is shaping up to have one of the larger and sharper displays in the Android premium-tier space this year.

Vivo X500 Pro Max tipped to get display and camera upgrades

The move to 2K on a nearly 7-inch panel is not just a spec bump but a strategic signal about where Vivo wants to position this phone. OnePlus went the opposite direction with the OnePlus 15, dropping from 2K to 1.5K while pushing the refresh rate to 165Hz, a deliberate choice to chase the gaming crowd. Xiaomi and Samsung have kept 2K reserved for their top-tier models, while offering 1.5K further down the lineup. Vivo appears to be playing the same game with the X500 series, using display resolution as a clear dividing line between the Pro Max and its siblings. For anyone who spends a lot of time reading, streaming, or just wants a display that looks genuinely sharp, that distinction matters.

For cameras, the Pro Max is tipped to carry a 50MP Sony LYTIA-838 primary sensor with LOFIC technology, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 200MP periscope telephoto. LOFIC is designed to handle excess charge in high-contrast scenes, preserving highlight detail that most sensors simply clip. The 200MP periscope is the number that stands out most, matching the Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s setup. Whether it translates cleanly into better photos will depend on how Vivo processes the output. A multispectral sensor is also reportedly being evaluated for improved colour accuracy and white balance, though it has not been confirmed as a definite inclusion yet.

Performance and battery

The X500 Pro Max is expected to run on a MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro, reportedly built on TSMC’s 2nm-class process with a dual ultra-core design. MediaTek has been chipping away at Qualcomm’s performance lead with each generation, and the 9600 Pro is expected to be its most direct challenge yet to the next Snapdragon premium-tier.

Battery is tipped at around 7,000mAh with 100W wired and wireless fast charging. That is a noticeable jump from the X300 Pro’s 6,000mAh cell and puts it alongside what OnePlus and OPPO are now offering at the top end.

The X500 series is expected to debut in China in September, possibly alongside Vivo’s first dedicated vlogging camera. If the X300 series is any guide, an India launch would follow a few months later. For shoppers currently eyeing the X300 or X300 Pro, a September China timeline means India is likely a late 2026 or early 2027 launch. If you need a phone now, the X300 holds up well at its current price. If the camera system is what you are really after and you can afford to wait, the X500 Pro Max looks like it could be worth it.
