Fresh off the announcement desk — after releasing the Vivo T5x a few weeks ago, Vivo has added yet another model to its T series lineup: the Vivo T5 Pro. Coming at a starting price of Rs 29,999, the T5 Pro is the successor to last year’s T4 Pro, building on the battery capacity, faster storage speeds, and an ergonomic design. While the cameras and processors also see a refresh, is it worth grabbing the Vivo T5 Pro, or should you stick to the T4 Pro that’s still up for Rs 27,999? Find out in this specifications-based comparison.

Starting with the appearance, the Vivo T5 Pro completely revamps the chassis by ditching the curved sideframe and curved edges in favour of a flat frame. On similar lines, the Vivo T4 Pro’s display had subtle curves along the edges, whereas the T5 Pro sports a completely flat panel with narrower bezels. Towards the back, while both phones rock a left corner-aligned camera module, the T5 Pro’s module appears rectangular. For durability, both phones gain an IP68/69 rating for safeguarding against water and dust exposure. Just like the Vivo T4 Pro, the T5 Pro comes in two colourways, both with a matte plastic rear finish. These include Glacier Blue and Cosmic Black, whereas the T4 Pro featured Blaze Gold and Nitro Blue colour options. Moving on, even though the T5 Pro is heavier and thicker than the T4 Pro, its 76.2 mm width should offer a better grip than the T4 Pro, which measures 77 mm. Coming in at 213 gms, the T5 Pro’s heavier weight could be attributed to the large 9,020mAh battery.

Moving on to the display, the flat BOE Q10+ AMOLED panel of the Vivo T5 Pro measures 6.83-inches and comes with a 1.5K (2800 x 1260) resolution with up to 144Hz refresh rate. Its display is a clear upgrade over the Vivo T4 Pro, which gets a 6.77-inch AMOLED panel with full HD+ (2392 × 1080) resolution and up to 120Hz refresh rate.Furthermore, the Vivo T5 Pro’s display can get brighter thanks to 2,000 nits high brightness value, whereas the T4 Pro is limited to 1,500 nits high brightness. Both smartphones support the P3 wide colour gamut for displaying 1.07 billion colours when watching content. Given the resolution upgrade, the Vivo T5 Pro should offer sharp details on YouTube when watching videos that are natively uploaded in 1080p and above quality. On the other hand, the 144Hz refresh rate support may be restricted to only a few games, instead of the entire UI.

On the performance front, the Vivo T5 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor, which is positioned one tier below the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 found in the T4 Pro. While we’re yet to test the Vivo T5 Pro, the company claims it can achieve over 11,10,000 score on AnTuTu. While this is a respectable score for gaining a decent level of performance in high-end games, it falls short of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4’s prowess, which generally achieves around 14,00,000 on AnTuTu. Both chipsets are based on a 4nm process. The Vivo T5 Pro somewhat turns things around in its favour by boasting UFS 3.1 storage speeds, a clear upgrade over the UFS 2.2 storage type on the Vivo T4 Pro. Technically, the Vivo T5 Pro should offer roughly double the app installation and transfer speeds, making the phone responsive; That said, the T4 Pro should still have an edge in terms of raw power.

The Vivo T5 Pro also comes with a larger 18,000 mm² cooling area compared to the Vivo T4 Pro’s 16,470 mm². during everyday scenarios, though, both phones should perform similarly in terms of thermal efficiency since the difference in cooling area is not that vast.

The camera department is where the Vivo T5 Pro sees some changes. It comes with a 50MP Sony IMX882 1/2-inch primary camera, which is assisted by a 2MP bokeh lens. On the other hand, the Vivo T4 Pro sports the same 50MP Sony IMX882 main camera, but instead of a bokeh lens, it gets a dedicated 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, giving it a clear edge over the T5 Pro for detailed long-range zoom and portrait shots.

Upfront, both handsets get a 32MP selfie shooter, with the T5 Pro gaining a wider f/2.0 aperture lens, while the T4 Pro is limited to f/2.45. In the real world, the T5 Pro could gather more light for brighter and sharper images, especially in low light. For videos, both smartphones can shoot in up to 4K resolution at 30FPS using the front and rear cameras.

The Vivo T4 Pro was introduced in August 2025, running Android 15-based Funtouch OS 15 with an assurance of four OS upgrades and six years of security patches. Since then, it has received multiple regular updates, including the OriginOS 6 update based on Android 16 that completely revamps key areas of the software, such as the quick settings panel, lockscreen, first-party apps, etc. With Android 16 underway, three OS upgrades will now be delivered to the phone. Moving on to the Vivo T5 Pro, it comes with OriginOS 6 out of the box and is promised to receive three OS upgrades and five years of security patches. Even though the T5 Pro will receive fewer major updates than the T4 Pro at launch, both handsets will eventually end up on Android 19 at the end of their OS update cycle. As for what’s in store for people in terms of the actual software, you can check our OriginOS 6 hands-on review for an overview of the UI.

One of the headlining features of the Vivo T5 Pro is its massive 9,020mAh battery, 981mAh less than the segment’s battery capacity leader, the Realme P4 Power. In comparison, the Vivo T4 Pro includes a much smaller 6,500mAh battery. The 9,020mAh battery paired with a slightly less powerful chipset should offer excellent battery endurance even with heavy use.

For charging, both the Vivo T5 Pro and T4 Pro support 90W fast charging. That said, the T4 Pro should charge faster during everyday use due to its smaller battery. A couple of other things common between both are reverse wired charging and bypass charging.

With a huge 9,020mAh battery in tow, the Vivo T5 Pro should be an appealing buy for those who prioritise a high battery capacity for extensive runtimes on a single charge. Even though it utilises a less powerful chipset than the T4 Pro, it should offer enough power for running daily apps and playing games in moderate settings.

On the other hand, the Vivo T4 Pro is available for Rs 27,999 on Flipkart for the base 8+128GB storage, Rs 2,000 cheaper than the Vivo T5 Pro. For this price, the T4 Pro gains a 50MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, making it a suitable pick for those who’re into photography. A telephoto lens unlocks versatility by providing people with access to take zoom shots at a distance and portrait images with clear edge detection. Furthermore, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 should offer a tad better performance during heavy use over the T5 Pro’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset.

The changes suggest Vivo may be prioritising battery life and storage over raw performance and camera versatility, possibly to target people focused on endurance rather than photography. The downgrade from a telephoto lens to a bokeh sensor and a weaker chipset also points to cost balancing despite the higher pricing. Within Vivo’s lineup, this positions the T5 Pro as a battery-first option, while performance and camera-focused shoppers may still find the T4 Pro more appealing.
