Vivo T5 Pro 5G India launch set for April 15th, design revealed
The Vivo T5 Pro is launching in the country with a massive battery. Here's what all you can expect from Vivo's next mid-ranger.
Worth noting for Indian buyers — worth noting for Indian shoppers — vivo T5 Pro 5G will launch in the country on April 15th with a confirmed 9,020mAh battery.
It’s expected to come with a 1.5K 144Hz display and 50MP camera.
The Vivo T5 Pro 5G is set to launch in the country on April 15th at 12 noon, the company has confirmed. It follows the Vivo T4 Pro, which came in at Rs 27,999 last year and sat in the upper mid-segment space. This time, Vivo is building the phone around a much larger battery while keeping the rest of the setup within the same segment expectations. The Flipkart microsite is live, revealing the phone will be sold on the platform.
The confirmed headline is the 9,020mAh battery and a Snapdragon chipset. The battery is well beyond what most phones in the Rs 30,000 – Rs 35,000 range offer, where even battery-focused options usually top out around 6,000 to 7,000mAh. The predecessor also came with a 6,500mAh cell. Vivo is also claiming a thickness of 8.25mm, which suggests the phone isn’t scaling up in size in proportion to the battery. Alongside this, 120fps gaming support has been confirmed, which usually points to an attempt to keep performance stable during longer sessions rather than pushing short bursts of peak output.
Vivo T5 Pro design misses an element from the T4 Pro
The shift in design is easy to spot when compared to the Vivo T4 Pro. The T5 Pro is shown in a whitish finish and uses a flatter frame and a more restrained back panel with a brushed, matte-like texture. There could be a black option too, going by the Flipkart teaser. The camera module is compact, with two large lenses placed inside a single rounded rectangle, and there are no additional elements around it. In comparison, the earlier model used a more layered layout and included the ring-style Aura Light next to the cameras. That element doubled as a fill light and also gave the phone a distinct look. Its absence here makes the design simpler and easier to read, but also less recognisable.
Leaks suggest the phone could feature a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, up from 120Hz on the previous model. The camera is expected to use the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset and a 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor, which points towards incremental improvements rather than a major change in hardware. This product is also likely to retain IP68 and IP69 ratings. Pricing is expected to fall between Rs 30,000 and Rs 35,000, placing it above the T4 Pro and closer to devices like the OnePlus Nord 6. The comparison with the OnePlus phone is interesting because the latter just debuted in the country at Rs 38,999 with a 9,000mAh battery.
Most phones in this range now offer similar displays and comparable day-to-day performance, so battery becomes a more visible point of difference. For shoppers, that makes the choice fairly straightforward. If long usage and fewer charging cycles matter more, this fits. If priorities are camera hardware or peak performance, there are other options in the same range that focus more on those areas.
