Fresh off the announcement desk — the Vivo S60 series is scheduled to launch in China on May 29th. The new smartphone series will focus on premium design, camera features, and a more decent set of specifications. The Vivo S60 series is expected to include at least two smartphones: the Vivo S60 and Vivo S60e, but there’s no official confirmation yet. Ahead of the official launch, Vivo has revealed the official design and colours of the S60 and S60 Vitality Edition.

Vivo S60 series design and colours

The Vivo S60 and S60 Vitality Edition are likely to differ in some areas, given their distinct naming strategy. That said, Vivo hasn’t revealed what the differences are between the two phones. Based on the JD.com listing, the Vivo S60 and S60 Vitality Edition is set to become available in Starry Sea, Early Summer Green, and Midsummer Night colours.

Both variants also feature the same design. Speaking of which, it’s a large camera island on the rear panel, similar to the iPhone 17 Pro series but with a prettier and more aesthetic feel. The Starry Sea variant is a new silver-white colour finish inspired by reflections on the summer sea, which is said to create shifting light patterns depending on viewing angles. The design is also quite different from the Vivo S50 series, which has a smaller camera module.

The Vivo S60 is set to become available in 12GB + 256GB, 12GB + 512GB and 16GB + 512GB variants. The S60 Vitality Edition is set to become available in an 8GB + 256GB base variant, along with the 12GB options.

Vivo S60 specifications (expected)

The Vivo S60 is tipped to feature a 6.59-inch AMOLED 1.5K display with a 120Hz refresh rate and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor. This phone could be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, suggesting capable mid-segment performance. It could house a 7,200mAh battery with 90W fast charging support, which should last an entire day and possibly more. Most phones now offer 7,000mAh and upwards, so the Vivo S60 should have no problem fitting in the segment.

For optics, the Vivo S60 could house a 50MP triple-camera setup with a periscope telephoto lens for zoom photography and portraits. Vivo is also adding dedicated camera features, including a new Live Photo system and a ‘Starlight Live’ feature. Cameras are becoming an increasingly important point, especially in the upper mid-segment segment. With a versatile setup, the Vivo S60 could lead among rivals in the same category.

Based on what we know so far, the Vivo S60 seems heavily focused on a premium and stylish design with a versatile camera setup. It may not be performance-centric, but it should be capable of regular to moderate tasks. The Vivo S60 makes sense for those who want a pretty-looking phone made for photography and capable daily performance. If you’re in the market for a stylish mid-segment phone with a strong camera and don’t prioritise raw gaming performance, the S60 series might be worth waiting for its official pricing and full spec reveal. That said, if you need top-tier processing power, you might consider other options available now.
