Worth noting for Indian buyers — vivo appears to be preparing the return of its S-series smartphones in the country after nearly seven years. Industry sources have revealed to us that the company is planning to launch the Vivo S2 in the country this July, marking the comeback of a lineup that last debuted in the country with the Vivo S1 back in 2019. While the original Vivo S1 targeted affordable-conscious shoppers with a price tag under Rs 20,000, the upcoming Vivo S2 is expected to enter an entirely different category.
The shift in positioning suggests Vivo is looking to capitalise on its growing strength in the Indian smartphone market, where The company continues to hold a leading share across segments. The Vivo S2 could be another addition to The company’s growing portfolio, potentially targeting style-conscious people who want premium design and camera-focused features without necessarily moving to ultra-premium premium-tier pricing.
As per details shared by industry sources, the Vivo S2 will launch in the country this July. This phone will target the premium segment, with its leaked pricing tipped to fall between Rs 45,000 and Rs 50,000. In this price range, the Vivo V70 is available, which stands out for its premium and compact design, Zeiss cameras, and more.
Specifications are still under wraps. That said, This phone has reportedly appeared in the GSMA database carrying the model number V2576, suggesting that This phone’s launch is underway. Based on Vivo’s earlier S-series devices launched in China, the Vivo S2 may continue the lineup’s traditional focus on selfie photography, slim and lightweight designs, and fashion-oriented aesthetics.
Some Vivo S-series models have also been rebranded as select V-series smartphones in global markets, which means the Vivo S2 could share similarities with future Vivo V-series devices as well. If the leaked pricing proves accurate, the Vivo S2 would enter a highly competitive segment in the country, currently occupied by smartphones like the OnePlus 15R and iQOO 15R. Vivo may attempt to differentiate the S2 through design and front-camera capabilities rather than purely performance-focused hardware.
The Vivo S2 could be worth waiting for if priorities include photography, lightweight build quality, and a more premium-looking design. That said, with specifications still unknown, people primarily interested in gaming performance or premium-tier-grade hardware may want to wait for official details before making a decision.
