Stable One UI 8.5 update starts rolling out to Samsung Galaxy S25 series globally, including India
Stable One UI 8.5 update has started rolling out to the Samsung Galaxy S25 series globally.
In case you were waiting for clarity, one UI 8.5 initially rolled out in South Korea.
One UI 8.5 stable update should be available for Galaxy S23, S24 series soon.
Officially debuted on the Samsung Galaxy S26 series back in February, the One UI 8.5 update builds upon One UI 8 by bringing several new additions and design changes. Now, after being tested in the beta channel for quite a while, the update appears to be rolling out to Samsung’s last year S series phones, the Galaxy S25 series, starting with South Korea.
As per multiple reports and posts on X and Reddit, the stable One UI 8.5 update is being pushed out in multiple countries simultaneously for the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Edge, Galaxy S25 FE, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra. After being rolled out in South Korea, people in North America, Hong Kong, India, Latin America, Europe, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia can expect their Galaxy S25 device to bag the update soon. Do note that since updates are generally delivered in phases, you may have to wait before receiving the OTA notification. Apart from that, the stable One UI 8.5 update also appears to be rolling out to Galaxy S24 FE people starting with South Korea.
Better reachability – With One UI 8.5, Samsung is once again emphasising reachability and easy accessibility of UI elements. For instance, with search bars or top bar menus in most first-party apps, such as Settings, the search bar has been repositioned to the bottom. Revamped first-party apps – Apps like Clock, Settings, and Calculator have been redesigned to support gradient backgrounds and improved layouts for better functionality and appearance.
Flexible quick settings panel customisation – The quick settings panel is now highly customisable, where every quick toggle or slider can be repositioned or resized.
Quick Share with iPhones – One UI 8.5 unlocks the capability to share media from a Galaxy device to iPhones using Quick Share and vice versa.
Although One UI 8.5 is built on Android 16, Samsung has a long-standing tradition of releasing iterative updates to refine the user experience and prepare for the next major OS version. These updates allow people to enjoy new features and a refreshed interface, keeping the overall experience feeling fresh and polished.
Similarly, on the Android side of things, OPPO has recently introduced ColorOS 16.0.7, internally known as ColorOS 16.1. Debuted on the OPPO Find X9 Ultra and Find X9s, the update brings revamped animations and a major update to the lockscreen in the form of Live Space. The lockscreen now supports full-screen music album art and a pill-shaped capsule that comprises notifications, and real-time activities like timer, food delivery status, etc.
