Redmi Turbo series phone appears on BIS, India launch tipped for June
Redmi could be bringing its China-exclusive Turbo series to India for the first time under the Redmi name itself, a new bIS listing has suggested.
Worth noting for Indian buyers — the phone could feature a 1.5K OLED display, Dimensity chipset, 100W charging and up to a 9,000mAh battery.
Xiaomi may finally be ready to bring the Redmi Turbo series to India under the Redmi name itself. An upcoming Redmi smartphone has appeared on the BIS certification database carrying model number 2606FRT34I, hinting that its India launch may not be too far away.
The information comes from tipsters Sanju Choudhary and Debayan Roy, both of whom shared details about the listing on X. What stands out here, though, is the branding. Redmi Turbo phones have so far mostly reached India through POCO rebrands, but the BIS listing reportedly mentions Redmi directly. That suggests Xiaomi could be trying something different this time.
The timing also lines up with Redmi’s recent teasers in the country. The company has started teasing a new device with taglines that suggest fast charging and performance and gaming positioning.

Xiaomi has not confirmed This product name yet, but the leaks and teaser language closely match the Redmi Turbo 5 and Redmi Turbo 5 Max launched in China earlier this year. Sanju Choudhary has suggested the phone could launch on June 10th, while Debayan Roy only mentioned a broader June timeline.
Leaked specifications
MediaTek Dimensity 8-series or 9-series chipset
100W fast charging
IP69-rated durability
Metal frame construction
Additionally, Debayan Roy adds:
8,000mAh to 9,000mAh battery
50MP primary rear camera with OIS
Vertical camera module design
These leaked specs are indeed loosely mirroring the Redmi Turbo 5 or Turbo 5 Max. For context, the Redmi Turbo 5 launched with the MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra chipset, a 6.59-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, and a 7,560mAh battery. The Turbo 5 Max pushed things further with a Dimensity 9500s chipset and a massive 9,000mAh battery.
If Redmi takes the battery game to the 9,000mAh mark, that’s where things get interesting. The OnePlus Nord 6 launched recently in the country with a massive 9,000mAh battery, also with a focus on performance and gaming headlined by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset. on spec sheets, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 has the edge in short burst performance and single-core tasks, but the MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra (rumoured to be in the new Redmi phone) offers better sustained gaming performance, efficiency, and higher clocked GPU speed.
Estimated pricing range in the country
Sanju Choudhary suggested on his X thread that the phone could stay under Rs 45,000 if it uses the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chipset. The China pricing also gives a rough idea of where Xiaomi could position the series in the country. The Redmi Turbo 5 begins at CNY 1,999 (around Rs 28,200), while the Turbo 5 Max begins at around CNY 2,499 (around Rs 35,200). India pricing will likely end up higher after taxes and localisation costs, but Xiaomi could still target the Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 bracket aggressively.
That is pretty much the range of the Nord 6 in the country, which begins at Rs 38,999. Other phones in the sub-Rs 40,000 segment are the Vivo V70 FE and Motorola Edge 70 Pro. The Redmi Turbo series may appeal to shoppers prioritising battery life, thermal stability, and charging speed over design or camera-first marketing. Gamers should definitely keep an eye out for this one.
