Redmi A7, A7 Pro make their make their debut in India with strong emphasis on battery and performance at Rs 10,499
The Redmi A7 and Redmi A7 Pro have been unveiled in the country, featuring the Unisoc T7250 processor and large displays.
Breaking it down simply — after unveiling the Redmi A7 Pro 5G last week, Redmi has come up with the Redmi A7 and Redmi A7 Pro today in the country at a starting price of Rs 10,499. The Redmi A7 Pro, in particular, is different from the Redmi A7 Pro 5G since it swaps the Unisoc T8300 in favour of the Unisoc T7250, while the standard Redmi A7 comes with a tad smaller display than its ‘Pro’ counterparts and utilises the same chipset as the A7 Pro. With that out of the way, here’s what these handsets bring to the table:

Phone | Storage | Price
Redmi A7 | 3GB+64GB | Rs 10,499
Redmi A7 Pro | 4GB+64GB | Rs 11,499
The Redmi A7 comes in Black and Blue colourways, while the Redmi A7 Pro will flaunt Black and Orange colours. These smartphones hit the market starting April 23rd and is set to become available across Xiaomi’s online store, Amazon, Flipkart, and Xiaomi retail outlets.
Redmi A7, A7 Pro specifications on offer
Since both smartphones are targeted towards affordable-conscious shoppers, the specifications on offer are suitable for those who want to gain smartphone experiences, such as web browsing, watching videos and scrolling social media all on a large display without spending much.
For starters, the Redmi A7 comes with a 6.88-inch LCD HD display, while the A7 Pro gets a slightly larger 6.9-inch LCD display with the same resolution. The panels of both smartphones are equipped with a 120Hz refresh rate and carry an eye protection system. The Redmi A7 can achieve up to 600 nits peak brightness, while the A7 Pro goes up to 800 nits.
Both phones rock the same chipset, the Unisoc T7250, which is an octa-core processor with up to 1.8GHz clock speeds. Having reviewed the itel A100 and Realme P4 Lite 4G, the said chipset should offer enough prowess for basic tasks, but don’t expect it to go over and above to run demanding games. Furthermore, it should be noted that the 3GB RAM on the Redmi A7 could act as a bottleneck down the road, resulting in apps getting cleared from memory quickly.
Unlike the Redmi A7 Pro 5G, which gains a 32MP rear camera, these smartphones feature a 13MP primary camera, along with an 8MP front shooter. Towards the bottom, there’s a single firing speaker. Thankfully, a 3.5mm headphone is present for people who enjoy listening to media using wired audio.
The Redmi A7 Pro boots Android 16-based HyperOS 3 out of the box and is assured of getting four years of OS upgrades and six years of security updates. On the other hand, the standard A7 runs on dated Android 15 and is promised to get two OS upgrades, alongside four years of security updates. Running on more advanced software, the A7 Pro gets access to AI features like Google Gemini and Circle to Search, while also sporting HyperIsland.
Moving on to the batteries, just like the Redmi A7 Pro 5G, the A7 Pro includes a large 6,300mAh battery. In comparison, the Redmi A7 is equipped with a smaller 5,200mAh cell. Both handsets support up to 15W wired charging, along with 7.5W reverse wired charging for lending battery power to other devices, such as TWS.
Are the Redmi A7 and Redmi A7 Pro worth your money?
Starting with the Redmi A7, it goes head-to-head with the Realme P4 Lite 4G, which is currently up for grabs on Realme’s online store for Rs 10,999. Since the Realme smartphone features 4GB RAM and 128GB storage and gets the same Unisoc T7250 chipset, it clearly has an edge over the Redmi A7 if you’re aiming for a reliable performance in the long run.
As for the Redmi A7 Pro, considering it also gets the Unisoc T7250 at Rs 11,499, the recently launched Ai+ Nova 2 is a strong alternative, which not only gains 5G capabilities, but also a tad better hardware in the form of the Unisoc T8200. That said, if you’re seeking a mature and polished software experience, the Redmi A7 Pro could appear appealing to many shoppers.
