OPPO Reno 16 series India launch hinted as new CPH2865 model appears on BIS certification
A new OPPO phone with model number CPH2865 has appeared on India’s BIS site, hinting at an upcoming Reno 16 series launch in the country.
Breaking it down simply — this product is believed to be part of the OPPO Reno 16 series, which is set to launch in China later this month.
A new OPPO smartphone carrying the model number CPH2865 has been spotted on India’s Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification database, with the date of grant listed as 12 May 2026. The CPH2865 has previously appeared on Singapore’s IMDA certification platform based on Xpertpick’s report, where it was linked to the OPPO Reno 16 series, though its exact model name has not been confirmed yet. BIS listings like this one do not reveal much on their own, but they do confirm that OPPO is actively preparing this device for the Indian market.
This product with model number CPH2865 joins a growing list of Reno 16 series model numbers that have been making the certification rounds.
The OPPO Reno 16 Pro, model number CPH2863 already appeared on multiple international certification databases, including BIS India. A separate listing has also flagged the CPH2859 as the Reno 16F.
What we know about the OPPO Reno 16 series
The OPPO Reno 16 series is set to launch in China later this month, with global availability, including India, expected between July and August 2026 based on current leaks. The lineup is expected to include at least three phones: the Reno 16, Reno 16 Pro, and a third model that the CPH2865 could represent. The available leaks point to a 6.78-inch 1.5K LTPO OLED display for the Reno 16 Pro, powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s, which is a notable step up from the Reno 15 Pro’s Dimensity 8450 and should mean better sustained performance for gaming and more efficient background processing. RAM configurations could go up to 16GB LPDDR5X and storage up to 1TB UFS 4.1.
The standard Reno 16 is expected to feature a more compact 6.32-inch 1.5K OLED display with a Dimensity 8500 chipset. The LTPO panel on the Pro model is also worth appreciating since it can dynamically adjust its refresh rate, keeping things smooth without unnecessarily draining the battery, something the Reno 15 Pro’s panel could not do. At a time when rivals like Samsung and Xiaomi are pushing LTPO displays and larger batteries in the mid-premium segment, these additions help OPPO stay competitive.
Both phones are tipped to carry a 200MP primary camera with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 50MP periscope telephoto, matching what the Reno 15 Pro already offered but with the camera formula expected to be refined through better sensors and image processing rather than a raw megapixel jump.
The bigger gain for the Reno 16 Pro could be battery life. Leaks suggest a 7,000mAh cell with 80W wired and 50W wireless charging, up from the Reno 15 Pro’s roughly 6,200 to 6,500mAh pack. That is a substantial increase that should translate to longer screen-on time while keeping the same fast-charging speeds Reno 15 people are already familiar with.
The standard Reno 16 is expected to carry a 6,700mAh battery with 80W wired charging. Both phones are also rumoured to carry an IP68/IP69 rating and a metal frame, continuing the durability standards set by the Reno 15 series.
There’s no word yet on the pricing, but leaks suggest the Reno 16 series could start at around CNY 4,000, which translates to roughly Rs 54,000, which would fit current mid-premium trends in the country, though some adjustment is to be expected. Should you be on a Reno 14 or older device, the Reno 16 series looks worth waiting for. Reno 15 people, on the other hand, may want to hold off until OPPO confirms specs and pricing before deciding whether the upgrade makes sense.
