The Reno 16 series has been officially teased in China, hinting at an imminent launch. At the same time, the Reno 16 Pro global variant has been spotted online.

OPPO Reno 16 series teased in China

OPPO, on Weibo, teased the upcoming Reno 16 series with a teaser image, but no details around the phone. OPPO has also opened pre-orders for the Reno 16 series, with shoppers in China now able to pre-book the upcoming phones. The teaser image confirms the Reno 16 series launch will take place in May. “A super fun live-photo powerhouse” is also teased, suggesting camera improvements and features for the Reno 16 lineup. The new Reno series is expected to include at least two phones: the Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro, with more models expected to join soon. The Reno 15 series also has four models, including the Reno 15, Reno 15 Pro, Reno 15c, and Reno 15 Pro Mini.

OPPO Reno 16 Pro global variant leaked

As per the tipster Yogesh, the global variant of the Reno 16 Pro will launch between July and August. It’s tipped to feature a 6.32-inch OLED display in a glass and aluminium build, along with an Action button. This phone will house a triple-camera setup with a 200MP sensor. The Reno 16 Pro is also tipped to pack a slightly larger battery. For context, the Reno 15 Pro has a 6,500mAh battery, so it could be 7,000mAh on the new model.

Interestingly, the Reno 16 Pro in China will come with different specs, which isn’t surprising as OPPO follows a different strategy for the Reno lineup in China and other markets.

The Reno 16 Pro in China is tipped to feature a 6.78-inch flat OLED LTPO display with slim bezels and a 1.5K resolution. It could feature a more premium design with a metal frame. This phone is expected to be powered by the Dimensity 9500s chipset and house a large battery, possibly around 7,000mAh, which could easily offer two days of use. With the Dimensity 9500s, the Reno 16 Pro would offer premium-tier-level performance.

For optics, the Reno 16 Pro is said to feature a 200MP primary camera with a periscope telephoto lens, and an ultra-wide could be part of the setup too. This suggests a versatile camera setup with strong sensors. Storage options could range from 12GB+256GB up to 16GB+512GB, with a 1TB variant also being considered. The Reno 16 Pro could be priced between CNY 4,000 and 5,000 (around Rs 54,800), and color options may include white, black, purple, and green.

The Reno 16 could be launched as a compact option, featuring a 6.3-inch display. It’s expected to be powered by a Dimensity 8-series chipset, possibly the Dimensity 8500. The Reno 16 is also tipped to house a triple-camera setup, which could include a 200MP primary sensor and two 50MP sensors. This could launch as the Reno 16 Pro in global markets.

After its debut in China, the Reno 16 series is expected to arrive in other markets later. The Reno 16 series, especially the Pro model, is expected to arrive with major upgrades in performance and cameras.
