If you missed the launch, the OnePlus Nord 6 goes on sale in the country today at 12 PM IST. The successor to the Nord 5 was announced earlier this week with a massive 9,000mAh battery, a 165Hz display, and the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset. The Nord 6 starts from Rs 38,999, a price hike of around Rs 7,000 over the Nord 5, which was expected, given the broader wave of smartphone price increases this year driven by rising memory costs.

What OnePlus is offering at that price is a mid-segment phone that punches well above its segment on battery and gaming performance, while also bringing meaningful upgrades in durability with its IP69K rating. The tradeoffs, such as no telephoto lens and a polycarbonate frame, are real, but for a specific kind of buyer, the Nord 6 is a difficult phone to argue against. Here’s what you need to know before the sale goes live.

The Nord 6 is built around three headline features: a 9,000mAh silicon-carbon battery that OnePlus claims lasts 2.5+ days, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset with 165 fps gaming support on titles like BGMI and Call of Duty: Mobile, and IP69K durability that puts it well ahead of most rivals in this price range. It also ships with OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16, with four major OS updates and six years of security patches promised.

Should you buy the OnePlus Nord 6?

If battery life and gaming performance are your priorities, the Nord 6 is one of the most compelling options in the sub-Rs 40,000 segment right now. The 9,000mAh cell is genuinely class-leading, the 165Hz display is a first in this segment, and the IP69K rating adds a level of durability that the Nord 5 didn’t offer.

That said, if you’re a photography-focused buyer, it’s worth considering that the Nord 6 has no telephoto lens. The OnePlus 13R, available at Rs 41,999, gives you a triple camera setup with 2x optical zoom and a premium-tier Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Rs 3,000 more. We’ve broken down that comparison in detail here.

For most shoppers, though, the Nord 6 hits the right notes under Rs 40,000. It’s a sweeter deal if you can take advantage of bank offers. We’ll have a full review up shortly. keep an eye out.
