OnePlus 16 key specs leaked

As per a new leak by tipster Digital Chat Station (via), a new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro phone, believed to be the OnePlus 16, is confirmed to feature an ultra-high refresh rate BOE flat screen. Earlier rumoured to flaunt a 240Hz display, this leak further adds to the speculation that the OnePlus 16 will come with this feature. The current OnePlus 15 is already one of the few phones to offer a 165Hz display, the highest refresh rate right now, and its successor aims to push that even further.

With a 240Hz display, the OnePlus 16 will undoubtedly offer one of the best gaming experiences on a phone with smooth visuals. It would also give the OnePlus 16 an edge over rivals, who are still stuck at 120Hz.

The leak reiterates a 200MP telephoto lens, which would be another major upgrade for the upcoming OnePlus premium-tier. It also hints at OnePlus getting more serious about smartphone photography, which has been good in its flagships, but not above rivals from OPPO and Vivo. This could be accompanied by a 50MP primary and a 50MP ultra-wide.

OnePlus 16 is also tipped to house a 9,000mAh battery, the biggest on a OnePlus phone. For a premium-tier, this capacity is huge and would guarantee good endurance for moderate to heavy usage. OnePlus 15 has a 7,300mAh battery, which is already more than enough. The leak also adds that the OnePlus 16 will come with a bionic X-axis motor for superior haptic feedback, symmetrical dual speakers, full-level water resistance (IP68/69/69K), and an AI button.

Based on the details so far, the OnePlus 16 seems to be maxing out on specifications for a performance-focused premium-tier. This time, OnePlus looks like it’s pushing on cameras as well, so the OnePlus 16 could turn out to be the premium-tier to beat. While we still have months to go for the launch, the OnePlus 16 could be worth waiting for if you’re holding out on buying a new Android premium-tier.
