Netflix adds Instagram Reels-like ‘Clips’ as part of major app redesign
The Netflix app has been redesigned with a new 'Clips' section. It shows short-form videos like Reels.
Fresh off the announcement desk — netflix is rolling out a refreshed version of its mobile app with a strong focus on discovery. One of the biggest changes of this redesign is a new short-form video feed called “Clips.” Like Reels, Clips will include short videos of series, films and specials tailored As per your preferences. The update is currently rolling out in the country and several other markets, including the US, UK, and Australia, with a wider global release planned in the coming months.
Netflix Clips
At the centre of the update is Clips, a vertical discovery feed that surfaces bite-sized moments from shows, movies, and specials. The idea is simple: help people decide what to watch without relying solely on trailers or text descriptions. The format will feel familiar to anyone who uses Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts, with an endless scroll of personalised content.
people can quickly add titles to My List, jump straight to the full title page, or share clips via apps like WhatsApp and Instagram. There’s also direct posting to Instagram Stories, signalling Netflix’s intent to make discovery more social and shareable. Netflix currently lets you share titles of shows or movies through a title poster on social platforms.
The bottom navigation bar now includes a dedicated Clips tab, while the top menu has been simplified with prominent categories like Shows, Movies, and New & Hot. Visually, the interface prioritises quick browsing and fewer taps. Clips will soon include podcasts, live programming and collections based on genres, like romance or specific interests.
Among streaming apps, Netflix has one of the most refined and smooth interfaces with easy navigation and useful features. The new update should make browsing faster and more intuitive, especially on mobile. If you often spend more time searching than watching, Clips could be genuinely useful. But if you prefer traditional browsing, the new layout may take some getting used to. More importantly, if you’ve been on the fence about Netflix, this discovery method might sway you.
