The Motorola Razr Fold is available in three configurations. The 12GB + 256GB variant begins at Rs 1,49,999; the 16GB + 512GB variant is carrying a price tag of Rs 1,59,999; and the special 16GB + 512GB FIFA World Cup 2026 Edition is carrying a price tag of Rs 1,69,999.

Buyers can avail either a flat Rs 10,000 instant bank discount or a flat Rs 10,000 exchange bonus, bringing the effective prices down to Rs 1,39,999, Rs 1,49,999, and Rs 1,59,999, respectively. No-cost EMI is available for up to 18 months on select banks, with the base variant available for as low as Rs 7,778 per month on the exchange bonus plus EMI offer.

While this is Motorola’s first book-style foldable phone, The company says they “built it to get it right the first time.” The company has been in the clamshell space since 2019 and has introduced multiple Razr Flip phones since, giving it enough knowledge of screen and hinge technology, as well as supply chain maturity, to get the Razr Fold right. Coming back to the specifications, Motorola claims the Razr Fold has the best cameras on a foldable phone, with a DxOMark score of 164, the highest score yet for a foldable phone. The camera system is a triple 50MP setup, including a Sony LYTIA 828 primary sensor with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide at f/2.0, and a 50MP periscope telephoto using a Sony LYTIA 600 sensor with OIS. For selfies, there is a 20MP camera when the phone is closed and a 32MP camera when open. Video goes up to 8K at 30fps and 4K at 60fps, with Dolby Vision recording supported.

As a Rs 1.5 lakh foldable phone, the rest of the hardware needs to be top-tier as well. The foldable is powered by the 3nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. While a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip would have been ideal, the 8 Gen 5 is still very much a premium-tier-grade processor that should be able to handle almost any task on the foldable without breaking a sweat. The display setup is central to the Razr Fold’s identity. The inner display is an 8.1-inch LTPO extreme AMOLED panel with a near-square 8:7.2 aspect ratio, 2K resolution (2484 x 2232), 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 6,200 nits protected by Ultra Thin Glass. The cover display is a 6.6-inch LTPO extreme AMOLED panel with a 21:9 aspect ratio, 165Hz refresh rate, 2520 x 1080 resolution, and a 6,000-nit peak brightness. This is also the first foldable phone to get Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 protection on the cover display. Both panels are Pantone Validated, support Dolby Vision and HDR10+, and carry 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage along with always-on display and Water Touch functionality.

The battery is a 6,000mAh silicon-carbon cell, the largest yet in a foldable phone. The only other foldable that gets a similar battery is the Vivo X Fold5 (review). Motorola claims over 43 hours of use on a single charge. Charging is rated at 80W wired (0 to 100% in approximately 60 minutes, with 0 to 30% taking around 10 minutes), 50W wireless, and 5W reverse charging. A 90W TurboPower charger is included in the box.

Audio is handled by stereo speakers tuned by Bose with Dolby Atmos support. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, UWB, NFC, eSIM, and a physical SIM slot, as well as USB Type-C with USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds and DisplayPort 1.2 output. The razr FOLD carries IP48 and IP49 water protection ratings.

The Razr Fold ships with Android 16 out of the box, with seven years of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates promised, matching the best software commitment available on any Android phone in the market. AI features include Moto AI tools (Catch Me Up, Pay Attention, Remember This, Recall, Image Studio, Playlist Studio, Next Move) alongside Google Gemini integration via a dedicated AI Key.

The Razr Fold is available in PANTONE Blackened Blue with a Diamond Piqué-inspired finish, PANTONE Lily White with a silk-inspired finish, and the special FIFA World Cup 2026 Edition.

Should you buy the Motorola Razr Fold?

At Rs 1,49,999, the Razr Fold is priced similarly to the Vivo X Fold5 and is cheaper than the Galaxy Z Fold7. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, triple 50MP camera system, 6,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, and seven years of software updates are all strong arguments. The Bose-tuned audio and the 165Hz cover display are genuine differentiators in this form factor.

The competition is primarily Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series, which has years of refinement and a stronger ecosystem of foldable-optimised apps.
