In terms of design, both phones are largely the same, with the curved screen and edge, the square-shaped camera module, and a slim build. Durability is also similar on both phones, with IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, and Gorilla Glass 7i for the display. If we have to go into details, then the Edge 70 Pro is a tad bit taller than the Edge 60 Pro, but more importantly, slimmer at 6.9mm. The Edge 60 Pro measures 8.2mm thick. Still, both phones should be comfortable to hold and use.

A key differentiator for the two phones would be colour options. The Edge 70 Pro comes in Pantone Lily White, Titan, and Tea. The Edge 60 Pro is available in Pantone Dazzling Blue, Shadow, Sparkling Grape, and Walnut.

The Edge 70 Pro has a slightly bigger 6.8-inch Super HD curved display (2772 x 1272 pixels) with a 144Hz refresh rate, 5,200 nits peak brightness, HDR10+ certification, and more. With the Edge 60 Pro, you get a 6.7-inch 1.5K curved display (2712 x 1220 pixels), a 120Hz refresh rate, and 4,500 nits peak brightness. So, the Edge 70 Pro offers a bigger, brighter, and higher refresh rate display than the Edge 60 Pro, although the differences might not be too evident in everyday use.

The Edge 70 Pro comes with a dual-camera setup with a 50MP Sony LYTIA 710 OIS primary sensor and a 50MP ultra-wide lens with macro mode. For selfies, you get a 50MP front camera. So, it’s a 50MP triple squad with strong sensors. That said, there is a major downgrade when compared to the Edge 60 Pro, which has a triple rear camera setup.

The Edge 60 Pro’s camera setup includes a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C OIS primary camera with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide lens with Macro Vision, and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and up to 50x Super Zoom. The key difference here is the absence of a telephoto lens on the Edge 70 Pro, which could have helped with zoom photography and detailed portraits. The selfie camera is also a 50MP on the Edge 60 Pro. The decision may have been taken to reduce costs as smartphone companies are already facing high component costs.

If your camera use is for casual photography, then the Edge 70 Pro should suffice, but if you want a versatile setup, then the Edge 60 Pro makes more sense.

For performance, the new Motorola Edge 70 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme chipset. It comes with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. This device also has a 4,600mm2 VC cooling system to keep thermals in check. The chipset may offer a slight upgrade over the Edge 60 Pro’s MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Extreme SoC, but the overall performance should largely be similar. The Edge 60 Pro also uses LPDDR5X but a slightly slower UFS 4.0 storage.

Battery is where things get interesting, as the Edge 70 Pro has a marginally larger 6,500mAh battery over the Edge 60 Pro’s 6000mAh unit. Both phones come with 90W TurboPower wired charging and 5W reverse charging support, but only the Edge 60 Pro has 15W wireless charging technology. This is a feature rare for mid-segment phones, so the Edge 60 Pro did hold an advantage over rivals with it.

Just based on specs alone, we can’t give a verdict, but we can still say that you shouldn’t find a significant difference in performance or battery life, so either phone can be picked in this case.

Since both phones are from the same brand, the software experience would be the same. Motorola’s Hello UI offers a clean and bloatware-free Android UI that feels smooth to use. The Edge 70 Pro runs Android 16-based Hello UI out of the box, while the Edge 60 Pro launched with Android 15. Both phones offer 3 major OS upgrades, which means the Edge 70 Pro holds an advantage with a newer Android version. It also offers five years of security patches, a year more than the Edge 60 Pro.

Considering just the specs, the Motorola Edge 70 Pro offers upgrades with a slightly better display, a newer chipset, a larger battery, and longer software support. That said, if you pick the Edge 60 Pro, the trade-offs aren’t extreme, as you’ll still get a well-packaged smartphone with a better camera setup, and at a more accessible price.
