Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ teased to launch in India soon; Flipkart reveals design, colour options
A new premium Motorola phone could be landing soon in the country in the form of the Motorola Edge 70 Pro+. Here's what to expect.
Breaking it down simply — motorola’s Flipkart microsite for an upcoming smartphone hints at the India launch of the Motorola Edge 70 Pro+.
It’s not been too long since the Motorola Edge 70 Pro took to the shelves in the country, but the company’s next premium phone for the country is already starting to come into the limelight. A new Flipkart microsite for an upcoming Motorola device has now gone live, all but confirming the arrival of the Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ in the country.
The company hasn’t officially named This phone on the page yet, but the webpage URL itself clearly references the Edge 70 Pro+ branding. The timing also lines up with earlier leaks that pointed towards a late-May India launch for the phone, which notably will be the first Pro+ model in the famed Edge series.
Motorola introduced the Edge 70 Pro in the country in late April at a starting price of Rs 38,999. The phone brought premium-tier-style hardware into the upper mid-segment segment, but it also left out a few features that were available on the global model. The Pro+ now looks to close that gap.
The microsite on Flipkart reveals a phone that sticks closely to Motorola’s recent design language with a premium feel. The teaser images show a curved rear panel in a burgundy colour with a triple-camera setup and textured finishes, wrapped in a satin cloth, which could likely be an indication of the in-hand feel of the phone. 1 of 2
Text around the camera module mentions “LYTIA”, “OIS”, “2.0µm”, and “12.81 mm Focal Length”, suggesting the use of Sony’s LYTIA imaging system alongside optical image stabilisation. Motorola is also putting focus on portrait photography in the teaser campaign, which hints that the additional camera sensor could indeed be a dedicated telephoto lens.
The company has confirmed three rear finishes so far in the teaser: Satin-Luxe, Sculpted Wood, and a Twill-inspired texture. Motorola has increasingly leaned into material-driven designs over the past few generations, especially at a time when many rivals in this segment are moving towards flatter, more uniform industrial designs. With their partnership with Pantone, the company clearly uses design and feel as a differentiator for its phones to stand out in the segment. This one shouldn’t be any different.
Reports have suggested the Edge 70 Pro+ could essentially be the global Edge 70 Pro repackaged for India under a different name, as the global and Indian Edge 70 Pro models had different specifications. If that happens, This product may bring upgrades that were notably absent from the Indian Edge 70 Pro, including wireless charging, reverse wireless charging, eSIM support, and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom.
The expected hardware includes a 6.8-inch 144Hz AMOLED display, MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme chipset, LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.1 storage, IP68/IP69 protection, and a 6,500mAh battery with 90W wired charging support, all present on the global variant of the Motorola Edge 70 Pro.
Expected price and availability
The global version of the Motorola Edge 70 Pro is carrying a price tag of EUR 799 (around Rs 89,000) for the 12GB + 512GB variant, while the standard Indian Edge 70 Pro currently begins at Rs 38,999. Companies are more aggressive with their pricing in the country, so we don’t expect the phone to touch the Europe price when converted. Since, the Motorola Signature with the superior Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset begins at Rs 59,999, that leaves enough room for the Pro+ to slot into the Rs 40,000 – Rs 55,000 category, which is one of the few spaces in Motorola’s India portfolio that still feels underrepresented.
That would put it in direct competition with the likes of the Vivo V70 series, the OnePlus 15R and the iQOO 15R. While the iQOO and OnePlus phones may offer superior performance courtesy their stronger Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, the Vivo V70 series with its Zeiss-tuned cameras could compete with Motorola on their photography prowess. If the company brings the full global feature set of the Pro this time, the Indian Pro+ may be a balanced alternative for shoppers who want premium-tier-style extras without stepping into ultra-premium pricing. Buyers with a affordable of around Rs 50,000 should wait for the announcement as it shouldn’t be too long away.
