Fresh off the announcement desk — just last week, a leak suggested that Motorola could significantly expand its Edge 70 series lineup. Alongside the expected Edge 70 Pro and the existing Edge 70, Edge 70 Fusion, and Edge 70 Fusion+, the company may introduce two additional models: the Edge 70 Pro+ and Edge 70 Pro Lite. This would mark the first time Motorola is adopting such an extensive lineup strategy for the Edge series, possibly aiming to capitalise on the range’s growing popularity as its core smartphone offering.

It looks like at least one of the rumoured phones has been confirmed. 91mobiles has spotted two new Edge 70 series phones on the HDR10+ certification, seemingly confirming their existence. It’s the Motorola Edge 70 Pro and Edge 70 Pro+. Also, with an HDR10+ certification, the Edge 70 Pro and Pro+ would both be able to produce more vivid colours and better contrast while streaming content with better detail in bright and dark scenes.

The Edge 70 Pro has already been expected, since it would succeed last year’s Edge 60 Pro. The new addition here is the Edge 70 Pro+, which, as the name suggests, could be a more powerful version of the standard Edge 70 Pro. We’re not sure what differences there would be between the two Pro phones, but the Pro+ model should offer some upgrades over the Pro.

Motorola Edge 70 Pro expected specs

For now, there are some details on the Edge 70 Pro, based on leaks and rumours so far. This device is expected to house a 6,500mAh battery paired with 90W wired charging support. In comparison to its predecessor, the Edge 60 Pro, it would be a slight upgrade, offering a larger 6,000mAh capacity. The Edge 70 Pro is also said to feature a quad-curved display and a refined rear design, similar to the Edge 70 Fusion. It could also come with “Super Zoom” capabilities, hinting at improved telephoto hardware or AI-assisted zoom processing. The Edge 70 Pro is also expected to feature a dedicated AI key on the left side. This suggests Motorola is also catching up with other brands in integrating quick-access AI features, much like recent implementations seen on premium-tier Android devices.

Since the Edge 70 Pro would be the top-end model in the lineup, we can expect the Edge 70 Pro+ to lead the lineup now. Both phones would sit below the Motorola Signature, which begins at Rs 59,999, in the country. With price hikes going on, we can expect the upcoming Edge 70 Pro and Pro+ to also launch at higher prices than before. With this lineup, Motorola could be targeting the sub-Rs 40,000 and sub-Rs 50,000 segments, since it currently doesn’t have any phones in these price ranges. Motorola would then have a larger hold in the mid-segment segment with offerings in each price category.

Since there are no concrete details about the Edge 70 Pro+ yet, it’s too early to say whether it’s worth waiting for. That said, given the Edge series’ strong presence in the mid-segment segment, the Edge 70 Pro+ could be a model to watch, especially if you’re considering an upgrade within the new lineup.
