Breaking it down simply — moto G87 is expected to launch soon as the next G-series smartphone from Motorola. It was spotted on Motorola’s official European website recently, confirming the phone’s existence and hinting at its imminent launch. The Moto G77 and Moto G67 launched in Europe earlier this January, so the next in line could be the Moto G87. There’s no official word from Motorola yet, but we now have access to the Moto G87’s renders, leaked online by Evan Blass.

Moto G87 design revealed

As per the renders shared on X, the Moto G87 is set to become available in two colours, which correspond to its recent listing that was spotted online. These colours are Pantone Overture Gray (a dark slate gray) and Pantone Blue Atoll (cyan). In terms of design, This phone looks quite like the Moto G67 and Moto G77 with the flat edges and square camera module at the back. The Moto G87 also comes with a flat display, which should be good news to many people who have been asking for a shift from curved screens. Up front is a punch-hold selfie camera, and the phone looks quite compact.

The tipster adds that the Moto G87 will house a 200MP primary camera, which is pretty big for a Motorola mid-ranger. This suggests that the upcoming Motorola phone will launch with a focus on photography. This device is expected to launch with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.

The Moto G87 is also expected to be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6000 series chip, although the exact model isn’t known yet. The Moto G67 uses the Dimensity 6300, and the G77 uses the 6400. Going by this pattern, we could see the Moto G87 with the new Dimensity 6500 SoC. If so, this would mean a performance bump for the new Motorola smartphone, giving it an edge over rival phones.

Based on the details we have so far, the Moto G87 is expected to sit in the affordable segment. The price tag could be higher, though, considering the ongoing industry trend of price hikes due to component issues. The Moto G87 could be worth keeping an eye out for if you’re looking for a affordable Motorola smartphone with a strong primary camera. That said, if you’re in urgent need of a new affordable phone, you might want to consider options that are already available. Also, if you currently own a Moto G67 or G77, the G87’s potential camera and performance bump might justify an upgrade.
