As per the latest 91mobiles Laptop Buyer Insights Survey 2026, The company not only recorded the biggest jump in ownership share compared to last year, but also emerged as the most preferred laptop brand people want to upgrade to next. The findings suggest that Lenovo is increasingly striking the right balance between performance, pricing, mainstream appeal, and aspirational value among Indian shoppers.
Based on responses from over 3,000 people across India, the survey explored ownership trends, brand loyalty, upgrade preferences, buying behaviour, and the factors that matter most while purchasing a laptop. And while HP still leads in current ownership share overall, Lenovo is steadily positioning itself as one of the strongest future-facing laptop brands in the market.

Lenovo recorded the biggest year-on-year ownership growth among all surveyed laptop brands. Its ownership share rose from 15.4 percent in 2025 to 19.1 percent in 2026.
At the same time, rivals like ASUS and Dell saw noticeable declines in ownership share. ASUS dropped from 16.7 percent to 12.5 percent, while Dell fell from 17.9 percent to 16.1 percent.
As per the survey, 18.3 percent of respondents said Lenovo is The company they want to upgrade to next. This puts it ahead of HP at 17.9 percent and ASUS at 17.2 percent.
What makes this notable is that Lenovo does not currently lead ownership share, yet it has emerged as the top upgrade choice among people.
The survey suggests Lenovo is increasingly being seen as a reliable all-rounder brand across mainstream, gaming, and premium productivity segments.
Around 44.7 percent of existing Lenovo people said they are likely to buy another Lenovo laptop when upgrading next.
While that trails Apple and HP, Lenovo remains competitive alongside Dell and ASUS in customer retention.
Interestingly, despite a slight dip in loyalty compared to 2025, Lenovo still managed to grow ownership share and become the most preferred upgrade brand overall.
The migration data shows Lenovo is attracting people from several competing brands.
Around 12.7 percent of HP people planning to switch brands said they want a Lenovo laptop next. The number stands at 10.3 percent among Dell people and 13.4 percent among Acer people.
Even among ASUS people, Lenovo remains one of the top choices, suggesting The company appeals across both mainstream and performance-focused audiences.
Lenovo’s momentum reflects changing buyer priorities
The survey suggests Indian laptop shoppers are increasingly prioritising performance, long-term value, and better overall experiences.
In that environment, Lenovo appears to be benefiting from its broad product strategy and mainstream appeal.
The company recorded the biggest ownership growth in 2026 and also emerged as the top upgrade choice among surveyed people.
If these trends continue, Lenovo could become one of the biggest gainers in the country’s evolving laptop market.
