Lava Shark 2 5G has been confirmed to launch soon in the sub‑15,000 Rs affordable 5G segment with a120Hz display, big battery, IP64 rating.
In case you were waiting for clarity, lAVA is going to expand its Shark lineup of smartphones with the Shark 2 5G, a affordable 5G smartphone designed for value‑conscious shoppers. This product looks to be a practical upgrade for people moving from feature phones or 4G handsets to the 5G ecosystem, with a focus on everyday usability and reliability. Let’s learn more about This product in a bit more detail below.
LAVA Shark 2 5G: what we know so far
The Shark 2 5G uses a 6.75-inch 120Hz display, which Lava says will make scrolling, social media, streaming and gaming feel smoother and more immersive. The phone also comes with a big battery aimed at powering through a full day of mixed usage, although The company hasn’t revealed a particular number as of now.
As per Lava, This product can deliver up to 13 hours 35 minutes of YouTube playback and roughly 12 hours of screen‑on time. Clearly, The company is trying to position this new device as a battery champion. We’ll share in our dedicated review if This product actually lives up to its claims in the dedicated review.
The Shark 2 5G will carry an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance, giving it an advantage over many affordable devices that rarely include IP ratings. Lava hasn’t shared a particular chipset name as of now but claims that it scores over 500,000 in Antutu V11, which is comparable to performance delivered by chipsets like the Dimensity 6300 or the Unisoc T8200.
The chipset should be able to handle everyday apps, some light gaming and multitasking without major hiccups. Lava is positioning the Shark 2 5G as a major contender in the sub‑15,000 Rs segment, where it aims to stand out via the combination of 5G connectivity, high refresh‑rate display, long battery life and IP rating. This product seems ideal for people upgrading from older 4G and feature phones, while also grabbing share from other affordable 5G brands in the same band.
More details on exact specifications, design choices and pricing will be announced at Lava’s official launch at the end of May 2026.
What the competition like?
With the price inflation, affordable smartphones have been hit the hardest and what you used to get during 2025 is vastly different from phones launching now at the same price point. Some heavy hitters in the current Rs 15,000 price bracket include the realme C83, OPPO K14x, Samsung Galaxy F70e, etc.
All these phones have the same focus as the upcoming Shark 2, with a big 120Hz display, a large battery and a mid-segment processor that matches what LAVA is likely to offer in speed. One key advantage that LAVA could offer is its stock-Android-like OS which is lightweight and wouldn’t stress the proceessor as its competitor OS could.
